Back of 2 "Strats 58"

Back of a very bright red 58 sunburst

Back of another 58 showing belt and playing wear

On these pictures you can see how different 2 guitars produced during the same year can look very different.Through the beautifull natural aging you can see the grain of the alder and the "yellow dyed" undercoat very clearly on the left picture, check this if you want to learn more about the detailed steps of Fender painting process over the years. The red color is known to "fade away" when exposed to the light over the years, so depending on the condition of these late 50 s strats and of course on how they were originally sprayed (they are very different from one to another), some will show a lot more bright red than others. Sometimes the red might be almost gone on the top and very bright on the back. That happened to a lot of instruments that stayed in the window of a shop, exposed to the sun for a long time for example but not on this one that still shows a lot of red on the front as well.
